The petition of Richard Stubbs of Congleton, Cheshire, Epiphany 1664

To the right Hon[oura]ble S[i]r Job Charlton Kn[igh]t Serjeant at Law, his Ma[jes]ti{ies} Justice of Chester and Rob[er]t Milward Esq[ui]r[e] th’other Justice there
The humble Petition of Richard Stubbs of Congleton in this County of Chester
Most humbly Sheweth
That yo[u]r poore Petic[i]on[e]r served his late Ma[jes]ty of ever blessed memorie faithfully as a private Souldier vnder the Com[m]and of Major Dan[iel] Moore in Col[onel] Henry Warrens Regiment, and at Marston Moore Battaile lost his Arme, as by a Certificate vnd[e]r the hands of the said Major and other of the officers of the said Majors Company may more fully appe[ar] vnto yo[u]r Lor[dshi]pps: And whereas yo[u]r poore pet[itione]r is vtterly vncapeable of following any Trade or imploym[en]t and being in a lamentable Condic[i]on haveing noe estate or maintenance for himselfe and releife of his poore wife and foure small Children.
The pr[e]misses considered yo[u]r poore pet[itione]r most humbly beggs of yo[u]r Hono[u]rs to order him some competent releife, by way of yearly pension or allowance from the County Thre[asure]rs or otherwise as yo[u]r Hono[u]rs shall thinke fitt
And yo[u]r poore Petic[i]oner shall ever pray &:
I desire the Justices of the peace att their next Quart[e]r sessions to take the petic[i]oners Condic[i]on into their serious Considerac[i]on
