The petition of Richard Shorter of Heston, Middlesex, 7 September 1648

<Petic[i]on of Richard Shorter.>
To the Right Honerable the Committee for the Armie, the Humble petition of Richard Shorter a poore wounded siouldyer in the Sauoy Hospittall
Sheweth:
Your poore petitioner served as Foott siouldyer in the Regimentt of Col[one]l Harberts, w[hi]ch before was Col[one]l Floyds, aboue two yeares in Capttain Gittins his Companie, & sence in Collonell Barksteads, vnder Captaine Young, about a yeare in Honestty & faithfullnesse.
That in his excercisse of Armes when commanded he sorely Hurt his right Arme, by an accident discharging his owne muskett, in soe much that itt was faine to be cut off, wherby your petitioner is vtterly disabled, & in great want & missery.
His Humble suitt to this Honerable Committee is, to be taken into your pius considerations, in respectt of that arreare due to him for his foresayde service, & of your Clemencie to such obiects of pitty to grant an order for the muster roulles to bee searched, that he may receiue w[ha]tt is due to him & as bound he shall pray
