The petition of Richard Sayse of Hereford (St Martin’s Parish), Herefordshire, 1669 to 1670

To the Wor[shipfu]ll John Rawlings Esq[ui]r[e] Mayor of the Citty of Heref[ord] & the rest of the Justices of peace w[i]thin the s[ai]d Citty

The humble petic[i]on of Rich[ar]d Sayse of the said Citty Free Mason.

Humbly sheweth vnto yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps that yo[u]r pet[itione]r was Eleaven yeres in his late Ma[jes]tie his Service King Charles the First of eu[e]r blessed memory. his seruice & never deserted the service but ever adhared to his said Late Ma[jes]tie and was never as yet Burthensome to the said Citty and haveing a great Charge to maintayne a wife and Six Children and being growne aged & his sight decaying and having a M[aste]r ready for a Child fitt to bee now plased abroad.

Yo[u]r pet[itione]r humbly desireth yo[u]r wor[shi]ppe to Comiserat his sadd Condic[i]on to take it into considerac[i]on. And that hee may haue a some of money to place his said Child abroad according to the intenc[i]on of the donors. And yo[u]r pet[itione]r as in duty bound will every pray &c.
