The humble petition of Richard Salmon of Namptw[i]ch

<Sheweth>

That yo[u]r poore petic[i]on[e]r about the yeare of o[u]r Lord God 1641 did voluntarilie inlist himselfe att Notingham as a priutate Souldier (& pr[e]sently after was made a Serjeant) on the Company & vnd[e]r the Comand of Captaine Thomas Caulins in the Regiment of S[i]r Foulke Hunckes Colonell in the service of his now Ma[jes]ties late father of euer blessed & glorious memory, against the Rebells in the Kingdome of Ireland; where hee continued two yeares and vpwards, and there in ye said Service receiued a Blowe w[i]th the butt=end of a Muskett vpon his hipp=bone that thereby hee is become altogether vnable to Styrr out of his Bedd without helpe or to take any paynes to raise a Liuelihood for his pr[e]sent Sustenance. That yo[u]r said poore petic[i]o[ne]r came in the said Regiment into England & continued faithfull in the said Service without desertion of his Loyalty, till his Ma[jes]ties forces were totally routed. That hee hath nothinge to Liue vpon not freinds to Releiue him any longer, but as his poore Sister hath kepte him for the Space of aboue three yeares last past & is not able to keepe him any longer beige soe great a charge both for his dyet & tendinge. Soe that hee is now like to perish vnlesse by yo[u]r ho[nou]rs meanes hee bee releiued. And now yo[u]r poore petic[i]o[ne]r beinge informed that his Ma[jes]tie hath beene pleased by his gracious Acte of Parliam[en]t to allow some Releife to all such soldiers that haue beene faithfull in the Service of his Ma[jes]tie or of his Royall Father & neuer deserted ye same in all the late tyme of Rebellion and vsurpation.

Therefore

Yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r humblie prayes yt yo[u]r Hon[ou]rs will bee pleased to take his miserable & disconsolate Condic[i]on to yo[u]r pious & serious Considerac[i]on & to p[ro]porc[i]on such an Annuall yearely pention for and tow[ar]ds his mayntenance and subsistance, that hee may not dye for want of a necessary supply, haueinge beene eu[er] faithfull to his Ma[jes]tie. And as in dutie bound hee will euer pray &c

Wee whose names are subscribed (some of vs) knowinge & others beleiueinge ye Contents hereof to bee true desire the petic[i]o[ne]r may bee releiued accordinge to the Acte of Parliam[en]t and his Loyall & indigent Condic[i]on: And as obliged wee shall eu[er] Remayne yo[u]r ho[nou]rs Serv[an]ts at Comand.
