The petition of Richard Nabb of Breightmet, Lancashire, 17 July 1651

To the Right wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of Peace at Manchester 17o July 1651.
The humble Petic[i]on of Richard Nabb of Brightmett husb[andman].
Humbly sheweth that yo[u]r petic[i]oner hath beene a soldier in the Parliament service for eight yeares last past & being at Manchester when Prince Rup[er]t was in the Cuntry this your petic[i]oners eyes were burned with gunpowder by reason whereof his eye sight is almost lost & that your petic[i]oner is now not able to foll[ow] his worke & is become destitute of habitacon & that the Inhabitants within Brightmet endeaver to remove your petic[i]oner forth of the same Towne notwithstandinge hee hath lived in the same Towne for Eight yeares last past.
Yo[u]r petic[i]oner therefore craves yo[u]r he worship to grant yo[u]r order to the Churchwardens of Boulton parish to provide a convenient place of Habitac[i]on for him his wife & Child within Brightmet aforesaid & yo[u]r peticoner shall daily pray &c.
Ch[urchwardens] to make prouision or shew cause next sess[ions].
