The petition of Richard Lee of Stafford, Staffordshire, 7 October 1656

To the Right Wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of the Peace for this Countie of Stafford:
The humble petition of Richard Lee of the towne of Stafford
Humbly sheweth
That whereas y[ou]r petitioner hath beene in the first Warre always willing to promote the parlament seruis to the best of his Capacitye and whilest he serued the marshall generall for the County of Stafford hee was Comanded forth and was then soe wounded that hee is euer since become lame and disabled to continue in that seruis for the same: wheareof hee hath wasted his whole estate and yett is but an inferme and vnsounde man by reson whereof he is altogether vnable as heretofore to manage his caulinge of a Clothier whome did formerly keep neare a hundred peepall on worke:
Hee therefore humbly prayes youre worshipes pious & charitable Considerac[i]on of his sad deplorable Condition & for his releife to admitt him one of the pentioners of this County.
And hee shall euer pray &c.
