The petition of Richard Lee of Stafford, Staffordshire, 11 January 1659

To the right Wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of the peace for the County of Stafford.
The humble Petic[i]on of Richard Lee of the Burrough of Stafford Maimed Soulder.
Whereas it was yo[u]r Worships pleasure and goodness to allow vnto yo[u]r Said Petic[i]on[e]r the Sume of five pounds by the yeare in Considerac[i]on of the pr[e]judice hee receiued in the late warrs by loosing his limbs in the Com[m]onwe[a]lths Service, and forasmuch as yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]rs Estate and Condic[i]on is every way weaker then when hee had the aforesaid grant of 5 li. being not in the least able to doe anything towards a livelyhood whoe formerly by his Industry lived in Creaditt and mainteyned himselfe and family and that in a Comfortable and plentiffull manner, It is therefore his humble request that yo[u]r Worships in yo[u]r Clemency will be pleased to take his Condic[i]on into yo[u]r further Considerac[i]on in ogmenting his yearely stipen [sic.] towards the releife of himselfe and family & hee as thereunto obleiged will ever pray &c.
