The petition of Richard Kitson of Borwick, Lancashire, Michaelmas 1676

To the Right Wors[hi]pf[u]ll the Justices of the pe{ace and} Comisioners for the Erecting of the pay to th{e Maimed} and Indigent soldiers
The humble petic[i]on of Richard Kitso{n} of Borricke A pore Indigent soldier
Most humbly sheweth that whereas yo[u]r petic[i]oner hath beene A soldier in his Maiesties fathers servis of Ever blessed memory in the which servis yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner rec[i]eved many hurts and wound{s} and Endured much hardship and Imprisonments and Likewise hath beene banished out of his na{tive} contry the cause whereof hath brought yo[u]r p{oor} petic[i]oner into poverty and Likewise [illegible] tha{t} yo[u]r poore peti[ti]oner hath beene Ever Loyall {and} [illegible] never deserted his Majestis servis
That yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner was vnder the com[m]and of Colonell Gerlinton and Afterwards vnder the command of Collonell Middleton in wich servis yo[u]r petic[i]oner was Ever fathfull as appeareth by sertificat
Moste humbly desireth yo[u]r Worships to ta{ke} the premises into yo[u]r seriouse considerat{ion} and to grant yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner some pention towards his reliefe as in yo[u]r sensier and discreet Judgments may thinke fit and as in duty bounde he will Ever pray for yo[u]r health and hapin{ess} Longe to continue &c
