The petition of Richard Justice of the City and County York, 19 April 1666
To the hon[oura]ble Bench at the gen[er]all Sessions held at Pontefract.
The humble Petic[i]on of Richard Justice.
Sheweth,
That whereas your petitioner was admitted pentioner at Weatherby Sessions the 22th day of January 1662: instead of Emanuell Justice his father then deceased, and was inrolled within the west ridding, as may appeare by an Order granted there, And from that tyme did receiue a pention of Sixe pounds p[er] Annu[m], Save only for one yeare & an halfe, And there being a Late Order agreed vpon That euery Pentioner should bee paid within their seu[er]all divisions, whereby your petitioner is depriued of the same, & hauing beene at great expences with Surgions by reason of a bullett which remayned in his foot for the space of Two & Twenty yeares & more, and being Lame, & hauing Sixe children, & little to supply their wants withall.
Therefore hee implores the fauourable assistance of this hon[oura]ble Benc{h} of the obtayning of his said Pention & arrears.
And hee & his shall Cordially pray for the prosperitie & happines of your honours & your posterity.

I doe verie earnestly recomend y[ou]r Petitioner & his Case to ye Honorable ye Justices at Pontifract knowing ye relation of his wounds & expences therevpon to be trew

<The pet[itione]r to attend the Justices who are to survey the Pension Rolls who are to take notice that the said Richard is allowed a pensioner, and if the sume allowed him before, cannot be p[ai]d out of Claro, that the same be imposed upon ye other divisions>
