The petition of Richard Joyneson of Eaton, Cheshire, Easter 1669

To the Right Honerable Beanche at the quart[er] Sessions to be held att Meidlew[i]ch And to the Right worship[fu]l the deputye Luten[an]ts for this Countye

Humbly Sheweinge to yo[u]r hono[u]rs that yo[u]r poore petitioner Richard Joyneson now of Eaton went [illegible] out of Tarporley as A Souldyer to goe to the fight att Boulton and from thence to [illegible] Leverpoole and soe to the fight att Maston Moore vnder the Command of S[i]r Michall Earley where I was both cut and shote and despar[a]tely wounded and in the meane time because I went to serue his Ma[jes]tie I was plundered at the house were as I liued then and left my poore wife and Children nothinge neither bread to putt in theire mouthes not soe much as A Sheete to Lay on theire bedds and then I beinge wounded and not able to travell I went to the Cassell of Beeston and theire I stayed vntill it was deliuered to our foes.

May it theierfore please yo[u]r hono[u]rs To take pitye vpon yo[u]r poore pet[i]tioner in this his old age beinge both old & lame & heard off heireinge & not able to help himeselfe made my A grieueances Knowne to the Right worshipfull the Justices of the peace for that hundered and the sayd I came too latt [illegible] but the next place that fell I should come in in his stead & now there is owne dead I humbly beseech yo[u]r hono[ur]s to giue yo[u]r poore petitioner Licence to be entered inhis stead And for soe doeinge yo[u]r poore peittioner is bound to pray for yo[u]r hono[u]rs for Ever
