To the Right wor[shi]pp[fu]ll his ma[jes]ties Justic[e]s of the Peace Att theire next generall qua[r]t[er] Sessions To bee houlden for & within the County of Chester.
The Humble Petic[i]on of Richard Jones of Pulford
<Sheweth>
That y[ou]r petic[i]on[e]r hath faithfully served o[u]r Late Sou[e]raigne Lord King Charles the first of famous memorie in his Late warrs as A Troop[er] vnd[e]r the Com[m]and of Collonell Roger Whitley in which Service y[ou]r petic[i]on[e]r receaved Seu[e]rall Shotts & wounds in his bodie to the weakening thereof By reason whereof y[ou]r petic[i]on[e]r is vnable to vnd[e]rgoe heavie Labor (which otherwise hee might have done) for the mainetainenance [sic.] of himselfe & his familie; And now is Like to fall into want & povertie if some Charitable course bee not Taken for his releefe.
Y[ou]r petic[i]on[e]rs Humble request is that y[ou]r wor[shi]pps would bee pleased Charitably to Consid[e]r this his Condic[i]on & to Admitt him for A pention[e]r amoungst the maimed Souldiers Alloweing him Such A Pention towards his Support & maintenance as to y[ou]r wor[shi]pps shall seeme meete
And y[ou]r petic[i]on[e]r shall eu[e]r pray for y[ou]r health & happines.
Wee whose names are Subscribed doe hereby certifie that the petic[i]on[e]r hath Served in the S[e]rvice aboue s[ai]d Soe as in & by this his Petic[i]on[er] is Sett forth And doe beeleeue oth[e]r the pr[e]misses aboue said To bee True.
