The Humble peti[ti]on of Richard Jacob
<Most> Humbley sheweth: that about 7 or 8 years since yo[u]r pet[itione]r tooke vp Armes in the s[ai]d County of Wilts[hire] To Serue the Parliam[en]t in the Reg[i]m[en]t of the Hon[oura]ble Col[one]l Ludlow (now Leiu[tenan]t Gen[er]all in Ireland) & Major Ludlow being then yo[u]r pet[itione]rs Capt[ain] vnder whom he serued the State 2 yeares and a halfe and receiued very Little pay nor neu[er] Since any of his arrears in which tyme yo[u]r pet[itione]r was Com[m]anded in a p[ar]tie with Cornet James Horton into Som[er]set sheire and at a place called Wellow was shott by the enimy in the Back where the Bullet remaines vntell this day and yo[u]r pet[itione]r haue spent all his estate and vsed all meanes to seeke for help but yet the wound remaines runing and vncured by meanes of which yo[u]r petic[io]n[e]r is vtterly vnable in body to Labour as Formerly hee did and is now fallen into great want and necesitie and noe way able to helpe himselfe his wife and Children
May it therefore please this Hon[oura]ble Court to take the pr[e]mises into their Serious Considerac[i]on and to offer such releife to yo[u]r pet[itione]r therein as vnto yo[u]r wisdome shall seeme meete
and yo[u]r pet[itione]r shall as in dutie bound eu[er] pray &c
