The petition of Richard Heyes of Warburton, Cheshire, Epiphany 1663

To the Right ho[noura]ble and Right wor[shipfu]ll the kings Ma[jes]ties Justic[e]s of peace at this p[rese]nte Sessions assembled

The humble petic[i]on of Richard Heyes of Warburton in p[er]suance of an Act made for redresse of Losses for such as were in his Late Ma[jes]ties service and haue since contynued faithfull to the kings ma[jes]tie that now is

Sheweinge that yo[u]r petic[i]on[er] was a troop[er] vnder Collonell Veire and afterwards vnder the com[m]and] of the Lord Berron at Moungomirie fight where he Lost a Mare w[hi]ch cost him 7 li. and was then shot into the sholder and theigh and that at Manchester, a mare and a sack of Barley was taken from yo[u]r petic[i]on[er] worth 5li. and at that pr[esen]te tyme he was taken pr[i]soner, and deteyned there seaven weeks where it cast for attendance and other Fees seaven pounds and Fiftie shillings for his dyett and that there came severall p[er]sons to make search for yo[u]r petic[i]on[er] at his owne house and not findinge yo[u]r petic[i]on[er] at home did take goods out of his house to the value of twentie shillings: and that one Captaine Roe vnder S[i]r Thomas Standley did take and fetch away yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]rs Cattell for redempc[i]on whereof he paid 4 li. 30 s. to the Garrison at Warrington for [illegible] Compulsion monie, Besyds the Losse of his tyme and other goods w[hi]ch wil bee too tedious to recyte at pr[ese]nte) to the vtter vndoeinge and impoverishinge of yo[u]r petic[i]on[er] his wyfe and children:

The pr[e]misses tenderlie considered yo[u]r petic[i]on[er] humblie implores yo[u]r hono[u]rs wilbe pleased to graunt and allowe yo[u]r petic[i]on[er] such such restituc[i]on and satisfacc[i]on for his sustained Losses as yo[u]r hono[u]rs in yo[u]r Judiciall wisdome shall thinke fitt and yo[u]r petic[i]on[er] as in all dutie bound will ever pray &c.
