The petition of Richard Head of Easton, Wiltshire, 3 October 1660

To the Right Hon[oura]ble and Hon[oura]ble and right Wor[shipfu]ll his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the Sessions for the County of Wiltes[hire] sitting at Marleborough this pr[e]sent Sessions The 3d Daye of Octob[e]r 1660. In ye yeare of his Ma[jes]ties Reigne.
The humble petic[i]on of Richard Head of Easton in ye County afores[ai]d gardiner.
Sheweth.
That yo[u]r poore pet[itione]r served his late Majesty King Charles vnder ye Command of Capt[ain] Michaell Hearst in ye Regim[en]t of Col[one]l Edward Hopton his Regim[en]t of foote, And that dureing ye time of ye seige ag[ain]st Plymouth yo[u]r poore pet[itione]r receiued a wound by A shott from ye Throate through ye right shoulder, w[hi]ch hath disabled yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner, soe yt yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner hath little or noe vse of his right arme insomuch yt yo[u]r poore pet[itione]r in his declyninge age is like to perish for want being not able to Labour, & haueinge noe other way of subsistance for his wife & children, yo[u]r poore pet[itione]r hath layen vnder A Cloud many yeares & durst not pr[e]sume to apply himselfe to this place or any other for releife, in this nature, but by ye instigation of yo[u]r poore pet[itione]rs Neighb[ou]rs & others, yo[u]r pet[itione]r hath pr[e]sumed to pr[e]sent this paper to yo[u]r favourable acceptance, And being assured there Lodgeth in yo[u]r Hon[ou]r[e]d & wor[shi]pps breasts such readynes to releeue ye Afflicted, And willingnes to give credence to this annexed testimoniall
Doe therefore most humbly implore yo[u]r honou[r]s and ye rest of this Wor[shi]pf[u]ll bench, yt yow wil be pleased to conferr an An[n]vall penticon forth of this County on yo[u]r poore pet[itione]r yt in his declyninge yeares yo[u]r pet[itione]r his wife & children perish not in ye present, nor yo[u]r pet[itione]r in the future.
And yo[u]r peti[tione]r as in duty bound shall euer pray &c
