The petition of Richard Fayrehurst of Acton, Cheshire, Michaelmas 1652

To the hono[ur]able {illegible} holden for th{e} {illegible}
The humble peticion of {Rich}ard Fayrehurst of Aston in the parish of Runkhorne his wife and two small Children.
Humbly Sheweth
Vnto yo[u]r good hono[u]rs and wor[shi]ps that yo[u]r petic[ione]r being aged threescore and vpwards and hath liued in the said parish fortie and ode yeares servante and maried and hath maintayned himselfe his wife and Childr[en] in Credite and good maner w[i]thout any charge vnto the said parishc[i]on[e]rs And wente souldior for the said towne of Aston the first Scotland voyage and eu[er] since hath bine a true and faithfull servante vnto the p[ar]liam[en]t and states of this lande and both yo[u]r peti[ti]o[ne]r and his wife take greate paynes and labor to maintayne themselues and there poore Children beinge not Chargable vnto any of the said parish nor Countrey and hauinge had a smale abode in the said towne of Aston certayne yeares ere now threatned and Compelled to avoide thence, nor cannot p[ro]cure any other w[i]thin the said towne nor parish nor els where w[i]thout yo[u]r hon[ou]rs and wor[shi]ps fauor therin.
May it therfore please yo[u]r good hon[ou]rs and wor[shi]ps to take to yo[u]r wise Considerac[i]ons the poore weake and distressed case of yo[u]r pet[itioner] his wife and poore Childr[e]n except they haue some place erected or apoynted for their abode w[i]thin the said parish by yo[u]r hon[ou]rs and wor[shi]ps apoyntm[en]t as the Churchwardens and ou[er]siers of the pore of the said parish shall thinke fite where or in what place w[i]thin the said parish yo[u]r petic[one]r his poore wife and Childr[e]n are vtterly voide of all hope of habitac[i]on and shalbe enforced to bege and Craue their releife in the said parish w[hi]ch is contrarie to their minds and desires therin and yo[u]r petic[ioner] his wife and pore Childr[en] will pray for yo[u]r hon[ou]rs longe health Joye and Eternall hapines.
