The petition of Richard Ellis, Derbyshire, 30 April 1647

To ye ho[oura]ble ye Com[m]ittee for ye County of Derby.

The humble petic[i]on of Richard Ellis.

<Sheweth> that yo[u]r petic[i]oner hath byn a souldier in this towne aboue three yeares & a halfe, is mayhemed, and hath much money dew to him, in arreare, hath a wife & famyly to mayntaine, nothinge to liue vpon, & not able to may to obtaine any meanes of liuelyhoode

Yo[u]r petic[i]oner for ye pr[e]sent necessary releife of yo[u]r petic[i]oner him, craueth ye assistance of yo[u]r hono[u]rs, hopeing you will bee pleased to allow him some mayntenance. And hee shall pray &c.

30th Aprill 1647

It is this day Ordered that Mr Buxton Treasurer shall pay vnto Richard Ellis the some of fortye shillinges for his pr[e]sent releife.
