The petition of Richard Ellis and Arthur Hill, Derbyshire, 1649

To the right worshipfull the Justices of peace, at the Sessions houlden for the County of Derby,
The humble petition of Richard Ellis, & Arthur Hill, two maimed souldiers, belonging to the late Regiment for the County aforesaid,
Humbly sheweth,
That whereas your petitioners had either of them Certain pentions allowed unto them by this worshipfull bench; and Mr Newton being the last tre[a]surer, going oute of his office, lefte youre petitioners the sume of six pound tenn shillings in areare, in regard as he sayth he had not money where with to satisfie your petitioners when he whent oute of his place, as he can make it more plainly appeare, w[hi]ch hath beene a greate preiudice to both your petitioners
Youre petitioners humble request therefore is yt you would be pleased to grant them an order, that Mr Flettcher who is now tresurer, may pay the same vnto your petitioners, it being iustly due, or make other course or what other Co[u]rse your worships shall thinke the most Convenient for the accomplishing of ye same,
And your petitioners shall dayly pray &c
Oure further desire is wit[h] the rest of ye maimed soul{diers} that youre worships wi{ll} be pleased to Continue Mr Flettcher st{ill} Tresurer in regard he parts with his mo{ney} soe willingly & payes us soe honestly
