The Petition of Richard Dyer of Ferring in the said County Husbandman.

Humbly sheweing vnto your Worshipps that your Petioner Richard Dyer was for severall yeares an horse souldier in his Maj[es]ties service King Charles the First of Blessed memory, vnder the Command of one Capt[ain] Pool of Maidestone in the County of Kent, a Troope of the Lord Hoptons owne Regiment And since vnder one Capt[ain] Ayre of the same Regiment And in that service did behave himselfe valiantly for the safegard of his Maj[es]tie and to the Hono[u]r of his Country And at that time when hee was abroad all the estate hee had was an Howse in Arrundel which (out of malice) dureing the Garrison there the enemy Pull[e]d downe, And since that tyme is become very Indigent and necessitous, by reason of his Age and great Charge of Seaven Children therefore humbly prays your Worshipps to Consider of his good service his great Loss and the meane Condition that hee is now in, and grant him a Pension And yo[u]r Petioner shall ever pray &c

Wee whose hands are herevnto sett Inhabitants of the said Parish of Ferring doe Certifie the truth of this Certificate.
