The petition of Richard Davies of Denbigh, Denbighshire, 16 July 1679

The humble petic[i]on of Richard Davies of Denbigh Corvisor
Sheweth
That yo[u]r pet[i]t[ione]r at the first riseing of the Rebells in the kingdome of Ireland ag[ains]t his late ma[jes]ty of famous memory did voluntarily Retayne him selfe a private souldier vnder the Com[m]and of Liftenant Collonell Gibson continued in the regiment of S[i]r Michaell Yearley for aboue a twelue moneth and Came ouer to England [blank] souldier & entertained my selfe vnder ye Com[m]and of Capt[ain] David Doulben & Liften[an]t Lewis and serued in the regim[en]t of Collonell Ellis & afterwards vntill the kings ma[jes]t[y]s armies were dispersed & entertayned my selfe afterwards vnder the Com[m]and of Major John Doubin in the Regim[en]t of Collonell Wynne & yo[u]r pet[i]t[ione]r haue beene wounded in the arme as shall make it appear yo[u]r pet[i]t[ione]r was for these many yeares & still is disabled to follow his Calling & hearby is growne into great poverty & not able to mainetaine his wife & 5 small Children
Yo[u]r poore pet[i]t[ione]rs most humbly prayes yo[u]r good worships to Consider his Condic[i]on & to graunt vnto him what yearely penc[i]on yo[u]r worships shall thinke meet of the maymed soldiers money & yo[u]r petitioner will euer pray &c.
