The petition of Richard Davies, Carnarvonshire, undated

To the hon[oura]ble Mr Randoll, Mr Peacocke, Mr Greenehill and Mr Huchison, Committees for Maymed Soldiers.
The humble Petition of Richard Dauies late Soldier vnder the Comand of Capt[ain] Smith & Capt[ain] Barrowe and sore maymed.
Sheweth.
That your Peticon[e]r moued in Conscience, did (to the vtmost of his abillitie) for the p[ro]pagation of the glorious Gospell of Jesus Christ and vtter extirpation of herisie, beare armes for the States at the first rebellious insurrections in Ireland, vnder S[i]r Charles Coote, and after vnder Col[one]l Coote his sonne, and since in England vpon diuers and sundry daungerous seruices, as often as occasions required, to tedious here to p[ar]ticularize.
That your Peticon[e]r in the aforesaid seruices, was sore & daungerously wounded, and escaped verye hardlye with liefe, hath at this instant 3 seuerall Bulletts in his bodie some whereof may be felt, and hath 7en deepe & daungerous Cicatrices and cutts in sundrye partes of his bodie, which haue much debilitated his strength and impaired his health, and haue made him somwhat hard of hearing, & nowe verye impotent.
Wherefore hee humbly prayeth the pr[e]mises considered That your Hon[ou]rs would be pleased to take this his pr[e]sent sad Condicion into your iudicious Considerations & that he may haue some annuall allowance, or pr[e]sent mayntenaunce towards his reliefe, what to you in your pious & prudent discreac[i]ons shall seeme meete
And your poore Peticon[e]r (as in duty bound) shall euer praye.

Wee desire that the Peticoner Richard Dauies a Maymed souldier, whoe hath faithfully performed severall dangerous services and designes in the States behalfe, May bee Charitably looked vpon & Releeved by the Justices of the peace in the seu[er]all Countyes of Northwalas (and especially in the County of Caernarvon where the said Peticoner was borne) That hee the said Petitioner may Provided [sic.] accordinge to his meritt and desert. Hee beinge a fitt obiect of Comisseracon and Compassion, to all well affected people to the states Giuen vnder {illegible}
