The petition of Richard Crampton of Leicester, Leicestershire, 1647

To the right wor[shipfu]ll the Maior the Alderme[n] his Brethren, & the rest of this Societie.
The humble petic[i]on of Richard Crampton.
Sheweth,
Yt yo[u]r petic[i]on[er] hath beene an Inhabitant in this Corporac[i]on aboue 30 yeares and hath paied Scott & lott dureinge all the said terme, and was in armes For the defence of this towne when it was taken, and was wounded att the works then, and is willinge to submit himselfe to the good Customes of this Corporac[i]on as a Free man ought to doe.
Maye it therefore please yo[u]r wor[shi]pps to graunt yo[u]r petic[i]on[er] to be admitted a Free man of this Corporac[i]on, att such small Fyne as to yo[u]r wor[shi]pps shall seeme reasonable, to w[hi]ch yo[u]r petic[i]oner submitts himselfe and as in duitie bound shall dayely praye &c:
denyed.
