The petition of Richard Booth of Bury, Lancashire, Midsummer 1677

To the right worshippfull his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace and quor[um] assembled
The humble petic[i]on of Richard Booth of Bury Joyner humbly sheweth vnto yo[u]r good worshipps
That whereas yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r, was formerly in his late Ma[jes]ties seruice a trooper, for many yeares togath[e]r both at Latham and oth[e]r seu[er]all places betwixt Yorke and Woolster And vnder seu[er]all Comand[e]rs, And since then in his Ma[jes]ties seruice that now is. And hath receiued in [illegible] theire said seruice many wounds, and especially his right hand almost cutt off, and his now Disinabled of the same, which is a greate hindrance to his Liuelyhood and [illegible] theireby, and by reason of his ould age is not able to gett himself a Liuely hood, but is necesitated and forced to complayne.
Therefore yo[u]r petic[i]oner humbly prayes yo[u]r good worshipps ord[e]r, that hee may receiue 40 s. a yeare pension being 10 s. a yeare addition And yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner as in Duty will eu[er] pray for yow and yo[u]rs etc
