The petition of Richard Blackwell of Brackley, Northamptonshire, Easter 1674

To the Right wor[shi]ppfull the Justices of Peace for the County of North[amp]ton[shire] att the Sessions holden for the said County.
The humble petic[i]on of Richard Blackwell of Brackley in the said County of North[amp]ton[shire]
Sheweth
That whereas yo[u]r Pet[titione]r was a Souldier (in the service of o[u]r late Kinge of ever blessed memory, in the late Rebellion against him) under the Comand of Captain James in S[i]r William Comptons Regiment of Foot. And since the happy restaurac[i]on of o[u]r now gratious Kinge, yo[u]r Pet[itione]r did for severall yeares receive a Pension of Forty shillings p[er] Annu[m], but for some yeares last past, yo[u]r Pet[itione]r hath not received any part thereof, the which yo[u]r Pet[itione]r cannot have nor (for the future) the payment of the said Pension continued, without the favourable order of this wor[shi]ppfull Bench
And therefore most humbly prays, that yo[u]r wor[shi]pps will be pleased to order the said arreares, and alsoe (for the future) the said Pension to be paid to yo[u]r poore Pet[titione]r who is very much necessitated for want thereof.
And yo[u]r Pet[itione]r shall euer pray &c.
