The petition of Richard Bates of Ashby, Northamptonshire, Easter 1662

The humble Petic[i]on of Richard Bates
Sheweth
That whereas your Petico[n]er was for severall yeares a Souldier of his late Ma[jes]t[y]s in his Garrison of Banbury vnder the Com[m]and of the r[igh]t ho[noura]ble the Earle of Northampton and receaved severall woundes in the said service in w[hi]ch [illegible] haue disabled him in getting his Livelyhood by his Labor:
And therefore humbly prayeth that a Penc[i]on may be conferred vppon him towards the reliefe in his p[re]sent exigents and necessities And yo[u]r Petico[n]er shall pray &c
The petic[i]oner having form[er]ly rec[eive]d 3 li. at S[i]r Charles Comptons request was & is dismissed from any further penc[i]on
