The petition of Richard Barlow of Elton, Lancashire, Epiphany 1672

To the Right Worshipfull his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace and quorum att the Generall Sessions of the peace holden att Manchester
The Humble Petic[i]on of Richard Barlow of Elton labourer
Humbly Sheweth
That yo[u]r poore Petic[i]on[e]r hath as a souldier faithfully served and adhered to his late Majesty King Charles the first as alsoe to his Majesty that now is in the late warrs and not deserted his trust by takeing vp Armes on the contrary parte
But soe it is may it please yo[u]r good Wor[shi]ps that yo[u]r poore Petic[i]on[e]r being now growen aged and Infirme and of late haueing had sicknes and sores vpon him to his great charge is now destitute for want of Maintenance, and hitherto hath had noe pension
Hee humbly prayes yo[u]r Worships would take his Condic[i]on into yo[u]r serious Considerac[i]on and grant yo[u]r order hee may haue a Pension allowed him fr{om} the Treasurer for maimed Souldiers
{A}nd yo[u]r poore Petic[i]on[e]r will ever pray &c
Allowed twenty shillings p[er] annu[m]
