To the Right Worshipfull his Maj[es]ties Justices of ye peece att the Gen[er]all Quarter Sessions held att ye Castle of Exon in & for ye County aforsaid the Fourteenth day of July Anno D[o]m[ini] 1696
The petition of Richard Addams of the Parish of Malborough in ye County aforsaid Souldier
Humbly Sheweth
That yo[u]r poor petitioner having served many Years as a Soldier in ye Service of King Charles the first, in which Said Service he rec[eive]d Seu[er]all wounds and Endured many great hardships by Lyeing in the Field many cold Nights, by means of which he hath been many Years, and Still continues in a very weake and infirme Condic[i]on and vnable to gett any thing towards his Maintenance and Subsistance, and hath for Some Considerable time receiv[e]d releife from the Parish of Malborough aforsaid Wherefore he humbly prays your Worships to take his poor and distressed Condic[i]on into your Serious Considerac[i]on, and that you would allow him a pention out of ye County Stock as is Usuall in Such cases, And your poor petitioner Shall ever pray &c.
