The petition of Reginal Walmsley of Cheadle, Cheshire, 14 July 1674

To the Right wor[shipfu]ll his Maiesties Justices of Peace at their Generall quarter Sessions of the Peace holden at Namptwich the Fourteenth day of July in the Twenty sixth yeare of the Raigne of our most gratious Soveraigne Lord, Charles the second by the grace of God of England Scotland France & Ireland Kinge defendor of the faith &c Annor D[o]m[in]I 1674

The humble petic[i]on of Reginal Walmsley of Cheadle in the County of Chester Labourer

<Humbly sheweth>

That yo[u]r said petic[i]on[e]r in the late Warre betwixt kinge and Parliament did serve his said late Ma[jes]tie Father of famous memorie deceased in the Regim[en]t of S[i]r Charles Vavisor since deceased vnder the p[ar]ticular Command of S[i]r Mathew Appleyard his then Maior to the said Regiment duringe the Continuance of the said warr, who and hath ever since continued a true and Loyall subject who not havinge any thinge to subsist vpon to Maintaine himselfe and his Family w[i]th all but what must be acquired by his handy Labo[u]r and being brought incapable therof occasioned by reason of old Age and other infirmities happeninge by the said service.

Prayeth therefore in all humblenesse, that yo[u]r worsh[i]pps will be pleased to admit yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r to become a pensioner in the place of one Richard Hardy of Cheadle aforesaid who hath formerly beene one of the Pensioners and is since his Admittance deceased or into some others place w[hi]ch by the List of the Pension[e]rs shall be found void by death

And as in bounden duty hee will ever pray &c
