The petition of Reece Ithell of Holt, Denbighshire, 14 January 1668

To the right Wor[shipfu]ll his Ma[jes]t[y]s Justices of the Peace for the Countie of Denbigh.
The humble Petic[i]on of Reece Ithell of Holt in the said Countie.
Sheweth That yo[u]r poore Petic[i]oner was a Souldier for his late Ma[jes]tie dureing all the time for most of the late vnhappy Warrs, & therein was faithfull being wounded in the said service, & three seu[er]all times imprisoned, his habitation burned and his Goods plundred, whereby I hee was brought very poore & hath soe continued ever since & still am is having hadd nor hath any thing to mainteyne himselfe [transformed from ‘myselfe’] & wife & many Children but what I hee wrought for, w[hi]ch was but litle, because I hee was not able in regard of his [transformed from ‘my’] Sufferings.
The pr[e]misses Considered yo[u]r Petic[i]oner therefore humbly prayes That yo[u]r Wor[sh]ipps wil bee pleased to graunt him an ord[e]r to receiue a Pension yearely amongst the rest of the Pensioners of thie Countie what yo[u]r Wor[sh]ipps shall thinke fitt whereby to releeue himselfelfe [sic.] & his poore family
And yo[u]r Petic[i]oner shall ever pray for yo[u]r Wor[sh]ipps health & happiness long to continue.
