The petition of Rebecka Robinson, residence unknown, 11 January 1649

To his Excellency Thomas Lord Fairfax Captaine Generall of all the Parliaments forces.

The humble Petic[i]on of Rebecka Robinson relict & Adm[inistrat]r[i]x of Robert Robinson souldier deceased.

Sheweth

That your Pet[itione]rs said late husband at the time of his death served vnder the com[m]and of Captaine Thomlines in the Tower Regiment, and was slayne at the first falling on vpon Colchester, as by Capt[ain] Thomlins certificate may appeare:

But hee had for a long time before served as a trooper in Major Gibbons troope in Commissary Generall Iretons Regiment, and was constreyned by sicknes to leave the said Troope; and for evidence of his being one of that troope shee hath in the absence of the said Major at Rye in Sussex procured a certificate from Leivtenant Henry Johnson that Commandeth the said troope which Certificate was procured the 29th of December 1648: but for the time of her said husbands continuance in the said troope shee for more certainty referreth herselfe to the muster rolls.

Now forasmuch as your pet[itione]r hath lost by her husbands death an annuity of a considerable value, which ceased at his death, and hath a great charge vizt five childeren to mainteyne and provide for, which her owne endeavours will not extend to mainteyne, and hath noe livelihood comeing in for her releife.

Shee most humbly entreateth your Excellency to vouchsafe her your letter of Recommendac[i]on to the hono[ura]ble Com[m]ittee for the Army for the speedy stateing her accompts of her said husbands arreares for his service in the said Troope, and for the ordering her satisfacion, whereby shee may bee enabled to pay her debts and to mainteyne herselfe & her charge

And shee & hers shall pray &c.

<I recomend this petition and Certificates to Mr Scawen desereing him to giue order for the stating the Petitioners husbands accompts and that she may receiue his Arrears or part thereof for her present subsistance.>
