The petition of Rauffe David of Hulme Walfield, Cheshire, 27 April 1652

To the weshipffull the Justices of ye Peace For the Cuntrye of Chester att the Quarter Sessions at Midlewich this 27th of Aprill 1652
The humble Peticion of Rauffe David of Humewakeffielde within the p[ar]ishe of Asburie
S[he]wewth [sic.] Thatt y[our] pore Peticioner, hath For the space of sixteene yeares laste paste, serued For the sayde Towneshipe as Trayned souldier or For Millicitia [sic.] vnder the Comaund of Gen[er]all Croxton in which time the Inhabitants of Hulmerwakeffield (soe manie as are lyable to Contribucion) For settinge Forth a souldier For theire Township have made vnto y[our] pore Peticioner manie and sundre Fayre promisses Amongest the reste thatt they would p[ro]vyde For him and his Familye a small dwellinge house and paye the Rente which they did p[er]fforme For some yeares paste butt now not havinge ocasion For him, they vtterlye dyserte hime and not att all regardinge theire p[ro]mise as aforesayd are willinge (ass much as in theym Lyeth) to caste him Forth of theire Towneshipe the place of his Firste breathinge
Maye itt therefore please y[ou]r w[o]rships the pr[e]misses Considered to graunte Order as y[ou]r w[o]rships shall thinke Fitt thatt y[ou]r pore Peticioner may att the reasonable Costs and Chardges of the Inhabitants of Humewakefield [illegible] who are hable to Contribicion thatt ther erecte him a small Cottage For his [?shelter] soe shall hee ever pray &c
