The petition of Raphe Savage of Halton, Cheshire, 22 January 1651

To the Hono[ura]ble the Justices of Peace at the Quarter sessions of the peace holden at Nether Knotsford the 22th of Januarie 1650
The humble Petic[i]on of Raphe Savage of Halton
Sheweth that yo[u]r petic[i]oner was a soldier for the service of the Parliam[en]t in this Countie, that hee lost the vse of one of his hands whereby hee was disinabled to get his liveing being a verie poore man vpoon w[hi]ch considerac[i]ons hee was by a former Sessions referred to Colonell Henry Brooke and Thomas Marbury Esq[ui]r[e]s whoe did Alow and order yo[u]r petic[i]oner to haue and receaue from the Treasurer for Maimed soldiers Orphanes and widdowes the sume of 30 s. p[er] Ann[um].
Yet not w[i]thstanding yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner is in Areare and vnpaid of the said sume one yeares paym[en]t of the said Allowance. Notw[i]thstanding the said Order yo[u]r petic[i]oner haueing seu[er]all times attended on Humphrey Buckley Esq[ui]r[e] Treasurer for Maimed soldiers to receaue the same. The pr[e]mises Considerd.
Yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner humblie prayes yo[u]r honors will grant yo[u]r second order that the petic[i]oner may receaue some alowance for his pr[e]sent subsistance and hee will eu[er] as in Duty pray.
