The petition of Raph Tilsley of Bolton, Lancashire, 21 April 1681

To his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the Peace & Quor[um] att the Quarter Sessions att Manchester the 21th day of Aprill 1681

The humble petic[i]on of Raph Tilsley of Bolton

Humbly sheweth

That att the last Sessions here holden yo[u]r petic[i]oner obtained an Order that the Churchwardens & Ou[er]seers of the poore of Bolton should relieve him according to his necessities which they haue not done hee had formerly a penc[i]on as a Maimed souldier which now being taken off hath reduced him to greate poverty and want of habitac[i]on hee is fourescore yeares old or thereabouts and cannot subsist w[i]thout a habitac[i]on bee provided for him and twelve pence a week for the manteynance of his wife and himselfe

Hee therefore humbly craves yo[u]r wor[shi]pps order for the alloeance above menc[i]oned

And yo[u]r petic[i]oner will pray &c
