The petition of Raph Burges of Mobberley, Cheshire, Trinity 1663

To the hon[oura]ble Com[missione]rs appointed for the relieuinge of maymed Soldi[e]rs & suff'[e]rers in his late sacred Ma[jes]tie of euer blessed memories seruise.
The humble Petition of Raph Burges of ye Parish of Moberlye in the Countie of Chester: a maymed Soldier.
<Sheweth>
That yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]r serued his late sacred Ma[jes]t[y’]s [sic.] since the late insurrecc[i]ons for diuers yeares vnder the Command of S[i]r Edward Fitton Col[one]l That he was sore maymed in diuers p[ar]ts of his bodie; in his s[ai]d Ma[jes]t[y’]s seruise whereby he is vtterlie disabled in followinge anye callinge towards the succour & sustentation of himselfe his wife & 6 small Children.
Wherefore he humbly desireth That your Hon[ou]rs wil be pleased to take these his suffrings into your prudent considerac[i]ons & & [sic.] to order yt he maye haue some competent Annuall Pension accordinge to the late Act of Parliam[en]t for maymed Soldiers in that Case prouided
And yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]r (as in dutie bound) shall euer praye
