The petition of Randle Hall of Brereton, Cheshire, 16 July 1667

To the Right Ho[noura]ble the Justices of the Peace of the County Palatine of Chester att this pr[e]sent sessions [illegible] assembled:
The humble Petition of Randle Hall of Brereton in the County aforesaid Labourer
<Most humbly sheweth>
That whereas yo[u]r poore Pet[itioner] haueinge in the late warr beene a foote souldier in his Ma[jes]ties service (of happy memory) under the Com[m]and of the Right hon[oura]ble William Lord Brereton & Captaine Booth, in which service yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]r lost his left hand And yo[u]r Pet[itioner] duringe the life of the s[ai]d Lord Brereton had therefore allowed towards his releife forty shillinges p[er] annu[m] as a Penc[i]on[er] w[hi]ch said sume yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]r hath not receiued since the death of of [sic.] the said L[or]d Brereton, And now whereas yo[u]r Pet[itioner] hath a wife and three Children to menteine, which hee formerly did by his hand Labour.
Most humbly Prayeth
That yo[u]r hon[ou]rs will looke uppon the Deplorable condic[i]on of yo[u]r poore Petic[i]on[e]r soe as in the same Pention hee formerly receiued may bee continued that thereby neither his wife or family may not (which otherwise they will) bee burthensome
And as in duty bound hee will
