To ye Right Wor[shi]p[fu]ll the Justices of the Peace sitting at ye Generall q[ua]rter Sessions of the Publiq[ue] peace for ye County of Wilts[hire] at the Citty of Newe Sarum
The humble Petic[i]on of Phillip Goldston of [blank]
Sheweth
That yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]r hath served his late Ma[jes]tie of ever blessed memory in all ye warres duringe ye time of his s[ai]d Ma[jes]ties Life beinge Cornet to Captaine Bowyers troope who was kill’d at Warder Castle in ye Lord Hoptons regim[en]t & afterwards when the Lord Hopton went downe into ye West was Cornet of a Troope of horse in Col[one]l Finch his regim[en]t & yt in ye s[ai]d Service he rece[ive]d severall woundes And yt since that yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]r was a Com[m]and[e]r in ye insurrec[i]on at this Citty in ye time of the late Tyrant Oliver Cromwell & after the body w[hi]ch was then putt together were Defeated & soe hard pursued after yo[u]r Pet[itione]r was inforced to make an escape into a wood & there lay for many dayes & nights in ye Cold haveinge no manner of releife soe that at ye last hee was enforced to dep[ar]t from thence to some other place where hee was taken and imprisoned at Ilchester for ye space of where [sic.] he endured much hardship & w[i]th the wounds hee rece[ive]d in ye form[e]r warrs & his cruall vsuage in prison hee hath utterly lost his Limbs soe yt hee is not able to gaine a Livelywoode [sic.] haveinge spent all his estate in ye Service of his sa[i]d Ma[jes]tie & in his oppression since
Therefore hee humbly prayes yo[u]r Worsh[i]ps to grante vnto him a yearely Penc[i]on out of this County for his maintenance as in your wor[shi]ps iudgem[en]ts shall thinke fitt & convenient And hee shall ever pray &c
