The petition of Peter Tincombe of Exminster, Devon, 1691

To the Right wors[hi]p[fu]ll theire Maj[es]ties Justices of the peace Assembled att the Generall quarter Sessions held for the County aforesaid
The humble Petic[i]on of Peter Tincombe of the p[ar]ish of Exmister in the County aforesaid husbandman
Humbly Sheweth
That yo[u]r poor Petic[i]oner served his late Maj[es]tie King Charles the first of Ever blessed memory very Faithfully & valiantly in the late vnhappy Civill warr dureing w[hi]ch tyme he was in diverse Fights and in the Seige before Plymouth (being then a Souldier vnder the Command of Capt[ain] Bartholomew Gidley in the Regiment of S[i]r Nicholas Slanning) Received seu[er]all wounds in his belly Thigh & Neck which very much disabling him from getting his Livelyhood by his Work he was some yeares since Allowed a pention of thirty Shillings p[er] Annu[m] as A Mayned Souldier butt being now Alltogeather disabled from getting any thing by his Labour by Reason of his old Age and Increase of his Infirmityes occasioned by his said Wounds Humbly prayeth y[ou]r Wors[hi]pps will be pleased (The premisses considered) to make some Further Addition to yo[u]r petitioners former pention And yo[u]r petic[i]oner As in Duty bound Shall Ever pray &c
