The petition of Owen Dod of Beeston, Cheshire, 4 April 1676

To the R[igh]t Worshipp[fu]ll his Ma[jes]ti[e]s Justices of the Peace for the s[ai]d County att the Quarter Sessions held att Northwich the Fowrth of Aprill An[n]o 1676.
The Humble Petic[i]on of Owen Dod of Beeston
Humbly sheweth.
That whereas your poore Petic[i]oner dureing the greatest part of the tyme of the late vnhappy warrs was in actuall Armes for his late Ma[jes]tie of euer Blessed Memory, and his Ma[jes]ty that now is, vnder the Com[m]and of Sir Hugh Calueley Dec[ease]d, and then in Beeston Castle vnder the Com[m]and of Capt[ain] Vallett dureinge all the tyme itt was held a Garrison for his Ma[jes]ty and lastly att Ridland vnder the Com[m]and of Sir Gilbert Byron where yo[u]r Petitioner was taken and from thence carried to Ruthen and there kept Prisoner Eight weekes.
Your Peticioner therefore humbly praies hee now growinge into yeares and often haueinge remembrances of his hard service by the aches and paines hee frequently endures occasionde by the late vnhappy warrs, humbly praies yo[u]r good worshipps that hee may bee admitted a Pentioner in the roome of John Wilkinson a late Penc[i]oner dec[ease]d and yo[u]r Petitioner as in Duty bound will ever pray &c
