To the right Honn[ou]rable the Judge of the Sessions & the rest of ye Honn[ou]rable Justices at ye Castle of Exon These

The humbel Pettition of Nicholas Jewell of o[u]r Towne of Honiton Humbly sheweth yt about sixteen years since he was dangerously wounded at ye Towne of Alsford in his late majestyes seruice, as bj a letpass vnder ye hand of Captaine Warham St Leger appeareth Now These whose names are here vnder written doe Humbly desire yt the aforesaid Nicholas Jewell may haue some maintainance allowed him as yo[u]r Honn[ou]r[abe]ll worships shall thinke fitt.

Hee is a uerj poore man and hath a great Charge of Childeren & not abel to worke to worke to gett any maintenance att all

<now> What yo[u]r worships will be pleased to doe for this poore man wee shall Humbly thanke you, & euer pray for yo[u]r Health & Happjnesse
