The petition of Nathaniel West of Colerne, Wiltshire, Easter 1662

To the Right Wor[shi]p[fu]ll the Justices of the Peace sitting at the Devizes for the holding of a generall Quarter Sessions for the Countie of Wilts[hire]

The humble Petic[i]on of Nathaniell West of Colerne in the Countie aforesaid

<Sheweth>

That your petic[i]on[e]r having served as a souldier in the Armie of the late Kinge of blessed memorie; and being Com[m]anded forth vpon a partie, was wounded by some of the Enemies partie, between the Devizes & Chippenham: By reason whereof, your Petic[i]on[e]r hath beene a Lame man ever since, which is about 17 yeeres agoe. And your Petic[i]on[e]r being thereby disabled for laboure whereby hee might get a livelyhood for himself, his wife & 5 children, hee is in these times of scarcity and dearenes of Corne, brought into a very lowe & sadde Condition And heareing that some provision is made for the support of maimed Souldiers

The Humble request of your Petic[i]on[e]r is, that your Wor[shi]ps will be pleased to grant him such allowance for the maintaineing of him w[i]th his charge, as your Worsh[i]ps in your widsomes shall thinke fitt.

And your Petic[i]on[e]r shall ever praye &c
