The petition of Nathaniel Hone of Marlborough, Wiltshire, 8 January 1661

To the Wor[shi]pf[u]ll ye Justices of the Peace sitting att Newe Sarum Att ye Generall Quarter Sessions there holden the Eighth day of January xiio Car[oli] R[egi]s s[e]c[un]di Anno 1660:
The humble Petic[i]on of Nathaniell Hone of Marleborow in the County of Wiltes[hire] Cordwyner
Humbly Sheweth
That yo[u]r pet[itione]r att ye begininge of the late vnhappye Warrs went foorth a souldier in the militia Company of Foote to serve the Kinge & Parliam[en]t where he receaued a shott diuerse wounds to his greate pr[e]judice and disability in body to followe his Callinge That yo[u]r pet[itione]r hath been allowed for many yeares past the sume of two shillings weekely in regard of his Wants hee haueinge fower Children to Maynteyne But for that yo[u]r pet[itione]r is deprived of that his former allowaunce by his Ma[jes]ties direcc[i]ons and is left to the Charitye of yo[u]r Wor[shi]ps to Comiserate his Necessityes And for that yo[u]r pet[itione]rs intenc[i]ons goeing foorth were wholly to serue his late sacred Majesty
Doth therefore humbly beseech yo[u]r Wor[shi]ps to pittye his vnfortunate estate & condic[i]on, And to graunt yo[u]r Pet[ition]er a yearely penc[i]on to bee payd him out of the Treasurye for this County.
And yo[u]r pet[itione]r as alwayes bound shall pray &c
Recomended to ye Burrow of Marleborough to paie according to Law
Lett him wait on ye Justices at dinner this Thursday
