The petition of Michaell Davies of Wrexham, Denbighshire, 9 January 1683
To the honorable his maiestyes Justices of the Peace for the County of Denbigh The humble petition of Michaell Davies
Whereas yo[u]r Poore Petitioner hath been Putt by from haueing any Pention this three quarters of a year; as was formerly Allowed and ordered by yo[u]r hon[uo]rs and now being aged and decrepid am reduced unto great misery haueing had formerly severall wounds upon my body received in his Maiestyes service in those unhappy warrs w[hi]ch hapened in these Kingdomes as in Pertickuler I received 3 wounds in my body att the seege of Namptweitch being then under the comand of the worthy Collonell Robinson besides 3 quarters Imprisonment and Afterwards received att the Battle of Nacebey 2 shotts through my leg and Arme w[i]th 5 quarters Imprisonment and after caried from cunstable to cunstable to my Native place and furthermore I received another wound in his pr[e]sent maiestyes service att Worcester: yo[u]r poore Petitioners last cureurions was Mr Elias Preston the Elder and Mr Murrey both deceased and they drew a Bullett out of my Arme. And now it pleased god to Add unto all these my great miseryes the losse of my sight that my condition is such that I am not able to helpe my selfe. The consideration of all this I humbly crave of this honorable Bench that yo[u]r charity will Comisserate my woefull condition to Aplie it in order for the reliefe of yo[u]r Poore Petitioner and soe yo[u]r Poore Petitioner shall euer Pray
