To the r[igh]t Wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of the peace now assembled in Sessions at the Castle of Taunton for the County of Som[er]s[e]t

The humble petic[i]on of Mawd Cape of Wellington widdow

Sheweth that

Edward Cape yo[u]r pet[ition]ers late husband was a faithfull Souldier in the service of the State vnder the com[m]aund of Liuetenn[an]t Col[lone]l Richard Bovett in the garrison at Wellington house & was then & there slaine by the enemy leauing yo[u]r pet[itione]r & 2 small children in a very sad & miserable condic[i]on destitute of any succor or releife:

May it therefore please yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps to consider the pr[e]misses & vouchsafe to order that something may be conferd on yo[u]r pet[itione]r for the reliefe of her pr[e]sent & future wants as in yo[u]r graue wisdomes shal be thought fitt

And yo[u]r pet[itione]r shall pray &c
