The petition of Maud Cape of Wellington, Somerset, 15 April 1656

To the right worsh[i]ppfull Assembled in Sessions April the Fifteenth Anno do[mini] 1656.
The humble peti[ci]on of Maute Cape of our P[ar]ish of wellington widdow sheweth.
That yo[u]r petic[i]on[er] her husband was a souldier in Wellington house vnder ye Com[m]and of Collonell Bouett, and thare was slaine leauing his wife and two small Children in a distressed Condit[i]on and yet w[i]th the p[ro]uidence of god hath by her industery and labour strived and endeauoured to maintaine her selfe and her two Children so long as she was able, but it hath pleased the lord so to visett her and on of her Children w[i]th sicknesse that she is not of her selfe able to subsist being weake & sickly To the knowledge of vs whose names ar vnder written.
In tender regard of the pr[e]misses yo[u]r Pet[it]ion[e]r most humbly beseech yo[u]r Worrsh[i]pps to take it into yo[u]r serious considerat[i]on according to yo[u]r wonted clementcyes to Comiserate yo[u]r Petic[i]on[er]s pore distressed condition and yo[u]r Peticon[e]r as bound in duty shall pray.
