The petition of Mary Wrench of Duston, Northamptonshire, Easter 1668

To the Right Wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of the peace of and for the County of North[amp]ton[shire]
The humble petic[i]on of Mary Wrench of Duston in the County of North[amp]ton[shire] widdow
Humbly Sheweth
That where[a]s yo[u]r pet[itioner]s late husband Thomas Wrench was borne at a place called Breyles in the County of Warwicke whoe accompanied the Lord Spencers corpes to the grave and beinge vnder one Captain Symon Luke was slayne in the North vnder the said Captaine in the late kings Ma[jes]ties service of ever blessed memory by reason whereof yo[u]r pet[itione]r is a very poore creature and alsoe very lame and altogether vnable to helpe her selfe And whereas shee hath formerly had a penc[i]on of Fower pounds a yeare since which time it hath been referred to Mr Janson and Mr Onley and the said Mr Janson did at the time of meetinge at Brincon concerning the examinac[i]on of penc[i]oners allowe to yo[u]r pet[itione]r Twenty shillings p[er] ann[u]m w[hi]ch said meetinge weare a little before Epiphany Sessions last past but yo[u]r pet[itione]r hath rec[eive]d nothinge since that time although it weare allowed by Mr Janson
May it therefore please yo[u]r worshipps to consider the case of yo[u]r pet[itione]r and graunte her the said penc[i]on of Twenty shillings p[er] Ann[u]m
And yo[u]r pet[itione]r shall ever pray &c
