The petition of Mark Drywood of Cullompton, Devon, 1683

The humble petition of Marke Drywood of Collompton in the County of Devon.
<Humby Sheweth> That yo[u]r poor petitioner in the Late vnhappy Warr Served his late Ma[jes]ti of Blessed memory as a Foot-souldier in the Regiment of S[i]r James Peniman vnder the Com[m]and of Captaine Beuerlow in Oxford, & Woodstock & other places in which service one of his Ribbs was Broken & other maims receiued, & now being poor weake, & Aged, is not Able to relieue & maintain himselfe & the reliefe the p[ar]ish giues him is not sufficient to keep From perishing Therfore doth humbly implore yo[u]r wor[shi]pps Fauo[u]r to recom[m]end his case & Condition to the rest of his Ma[jes]t[y’]s Justices of Peace at the next quarter sessions of the peace to be held For this County of Devon that hee may be Admitted as A pensioner as others in the like Case haue been. And yo[u]r pettiteoner as in duty shall pray
Wee whose names are subscribed haue Examined the Matter contained in this petition And finde it to be true. being Attested by seu[er]all Credible persons. therefor doe thinke it Fitt. & do likewise desire that his request be granted & hee Admitted as A pensioner
