The petition of Margrett Neild of Shurlach, Cheshire, Michaelmas 1651

To the hon[oura]ble Justeses of peace for the Cou[nty] palatine of Chester
The humble petition of Margrett Neild of Shurlach widdow
<Sheweth> vnto yo[u]r honnors that whereas yo[u]r humble peti[tioner] through the great losse w[hi]ch yo[u]r peti[tioner] and her Child haue recaiued [sic.] by lowsinge her husband who was slaine at Worster is vtterly overthrone and vndone for ever, by reason yo[u]r poore peti[tioner] is lame of her limes and hath bin lame aboue this tow yeares, and is not able to moue foorth of the place yo[u]r peti[tioner] doth sitt in, w[i]th out some helpe of her neighbours, and yo[u]r pet[itione]r is not onely lame by but is destitute of mentinance through the losse of her husband whoe did maintayne her in addcent [sic.] and comely maner, who now is lickly to famish and her Child alsoe, w[i]th out some spedy Course be taken for theire mentenance, for yo[u]r peti[tioner] hath neither house nor maines to releiue yo[u]r peti[tioner] and her Child but that her neighbours are veary good vnto her, by reason of her good Carriage amongst them
May it theirefor plaise yo[u]r hon[ours] to take it into Consideration and grant yo[u]r poore peti[tioner] some spedie releiffe to mentayne yo[u]r poore peti[tioner] and her Child who are both lickly to bee cast away w[i]th out some speedy course be taken, by reason of yo[u]r poore petiti[oner’s] lamnes and yo[u]r peti[tioner] as shee is bound will ever pray &c
These Souldier that are wounded & lye vnd[e]r the Chyurgions hand the Treas[urer] are to pay the Cure.
