The petition of Margrett Lightoulers of Nether Wyresdale, Lancashire, 18 April 1672

To the Right worshippfull his maj[es]ties Justices of the peace & Quor[um] at the Generall Quarter Sessions of the peace to bee held at Preston in Amoundernes the Eighteenth day of April 1672.
The humble pettic[i]on of Margrett Lightoulers of Nether Wyersdall in the County of Lancaster widdow Late widdow & relict of John Lightoulers of Netherwyersdall aforesaid a poore maymed & indigent Soldier
Sheweth vnto yo[u]r worshipps that yo[u]r pettic[i]on[e]rs husband dyed about a yeare & a halfe agoe & had a yearly penc[i]on of ten shillings [illegible] paid him dureinge his life Save onely ten shillings that was in arreare unto him That yo[u]r pettic[i]on[e]r hath her selfe and five Children to mantai{n} & nothinge to mantaine them with Save her dayly Labour
Therfore yo[u]r pettic[i]on[e]r humbly {?prays} yo[u]r worshipps order to the T{reasurer} for maymed Souldiers that the {?said} Sume of Ten shillings may b{e} yearly paid yo[u]r pett[itione]r towards t{he} mantenance of her selfe & poore Children as also that he may pay h{[er} the five [sic.] shillings in arreare to yo[u]r pett[itione]rs husband & yo[u]r pett[itione]r shall Ever pray &c.
Wee whose names are herevnd[e]r subscribed beinge Inhabitants within the Hamblett of Netherwyersall & nere neighbours to yo[u]r pett[itione]r doe beleive the Contents of this pettic[i]on to bee true.
