The petition of Margrett Bowker of Manchester, Lancashire, Easter 1653

To the R[ig]ht wor[shi]p[fu]l the Justices off peace and Quorum sitting in open Ssessions [sic.] at Manchest[e]r Apr[il] 29th 1653
The humble petition off Margrett Bowker off Manchester.
Humbley sheweth to yo[u]r Good wor[shi]pls [sic.] that yo[u]r poore pettition[e]rs husband Rob[er]t Bowker went neere 3 yeares agoe into Scotland as a listed souldier vnder Collonell Danyell, and left yo[u]r pettitioner, and one younge Child to maintaine but left nothing at all for our maintainance, but what I shee cold gett w[i]th my her hand labour; but the tymes are soe ile through decay of trade and Comerce yt yo[u]r pettitioner cannot subsist w[i]thout shee and [illegible] her child have some reliefe
May itt therefore please yo[u]r good wor[shi]ps to take yo[u]r poore petitioners condition into yo[u]r Charitable Consid{eration} and humbley requesteth remeadye and reliefe {as} in such Cases the law off this Comon we{alth} provided for such poore indigent people {And your} pettition[e]r shall ever pray for yo[u]r wor{ships}
