The petition of Margery Cotton, Cheshire, 21 January 1651

To the Right woor[shi]pp[fu]ll S[i]r George Booth and the Rest of the gentlemen & Justice of peace, mett and assembled at the Sessions holden at Knottesforde the 21th of January 1650
The humble petic[i]on of Margery Cotton Relict to Edward Cotton deseased who was shaine [sic.] in the parliaments service in the behaulfe of her seulfe [sic.] & towe Chilldren
Sheweth
That according to the act of parliament in that Case p[ro]vyded your petic[i]oners were formerly admitted as pencioners amoungst others of the lyke nature who had theire husbownds & parents slaine in the sayd Service beinge allmost three yeares since they were admitted, butt haue as yett Receaved of that w[hi]ch was allowed them but onely one quarters pay of 20 s. & that allmost tow yeares since.
May it please this wor[shi]pp[fu]ll Bench the pr[e]mises Considered to Commiserate yo[u]r petic[i]oners as othres of the lyke nature & to geue order the[y] may Receave all such arrears of the pay as may Justly appeere to be behynd & vnpaid them & to Continue it for tyme to come as vnto others: & yo[u]r petic[i]oners will pray &c
