The petition of Margaret Rowse of Methwold, Norfolk, 1646

To the right wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of the peace at the Sessions holden in Kings Lynn for the Countie of Norff[olk]
The humble petic[i]on of Margrett Rowse of Methold.
Sheweth
That whereas Edmund Rowse her husband was indicted at the gen[er]all Sessions of the peace holden at the Castle of Norwich for the stealinge of a bay stoned horse of the price of lxiij s. iiij d. & because noe evidence came in against him, he was therefore discharged by the Court, one Mr Ware of Feltwell seized this said horse as felons goods, & after yo[u]r wor[shi]pps poore petic[i]oners husband was discharged he demanded the horse w[hi]ch the said Mr Ware refused to deliuer or anie recompence in lieu thereof: Wherefore yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner humblie beseech yo[u]r good wor[shi]pps that you would be pleased to make some order whereby she may haue satisffaction for her said horse to relieue her now in her great extremetie. And yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner shall be for euer bound to pray for yo[u]r wor[shi]pps health & happines long to continue &c
Further yo[u]r wor[shi]pps poore petic[i]oner complaineth that whereas the towne of methold haueinge sent away her husband for a soldier, & she being left with two small children, & not able to p[ro]uide for them, the said Towne of Methold refuse to give her such collection as is fitt for poore people in such extremitie: Wherefore yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner humblie beseech yo[u]r good wor[shi]pps that there be course taken for the releife of her & hers:
And yo[u]r wor[shi]pps poore petic[i]oner shall be for euer bound to pray &c.
